Focus on Refrigerants and F-Gas Regulation
- Up to date and informative: the 18th BITZER Refrigerant Report
- BITZER brochure on the new EU F-Gas Regulation
At Chillventa 2014, BITZER has published the new, updated and extended version of its traditional Refrigerant Report. The 18th edition of the report is available both as a printed brochure and for . BITZER has put the focus on new developments and possible applications of refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) – for example HFO and HFO/HFC blends. Together with the extended use of natural refrigerants, these so-called Low-GWP refrigerants are two of the most important development trends in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. BITZER has especially marked chapters containing important changes and additions in the table of contents on page 2 of the Refrigerant Report 18.
Unfortunately, in the printed version of the Refrigerant Report 18, an error has crept in on page 38: the new HFO/HFC blends R448A (Honeywell Solstice N-40) and R449A (DuPont Opteon XP40) do not belong, as stated there, to safety group A2L, but rather to safety group A1. This is because both refrigerants are non-flammable. In the descriptions and tables on pages 24 to 26, the specifications are correct, and so are the data in the PDF file which is available for download. There is an erratum for page 38 .
The brochure on the new EU F-Gas Regulation No. 517/2014 has also been revised. Especially for Chillventa, BITZER has once more updated the pamphlet originally published in June that summarises the essential parts of the new regulation. Especially useful is also a detailed description of refrigerants with low GWP which can be seen as viable alternatives to the currently used fluids. BITZER also presents some concrete options for the use of future refrigerants.
