Introduction
In order to allow for flexible system designs, Bitzer compressors are available with a variety of different connections and shut-off valves. This document provides an overview of available bushings, flanges, shut-off valves and other connections. If no special refrigerant is mentioned, they are suitable for A1, A2, A2L and A3 refrigerants. Special connections are available for R717 (special material properties) and R744 (higher pressure levels). All components are designed and suitable for the application limits of the respective compressor (pressure and temperature).
For better readability, the part numbers are indicated with spaces (e.g. 365 312 04). When searching, this must be taken into account and the spaces inserted.
Dimensional drawings and further technical data for each compressor are available in the BITZER SOFTWARE. Spare parts incl. matching seals etc. are also listed in the spare parts catalogue ePARTS and can be found with the help of exploded drawings - if necessary, also note the "Alternative parts" (2nd column).
Operating instructions for the valves are available from Armaturenwerk Altenburg.
Residual risks
The products, electronic accessories and further system components may present unavoidable residual risks. Therefore, any person working on it must carefully read this document! The following are mandatory:
- relevant safety regulations and standards
- generally accepted safety rules
- EU directives
- national regulations and safety standards
Depending on the country, different standards are applied when installing the product, for example: EN378, EN60204, EN60335, EN ISO14120, ISO5149, IEC60204, IEC60335, ASHRAE 15, NEC, UL standards.
Authorized staff
All work done on the products and the systems in which they are or will be installed may only be performed by qualified and authorised staff who have been trained and instructed in all work. The qualification and competence of the qualified staff must correspond to the local regulations and guidelines.
In addition to the safety references listed in this document, it is essential to observe the references and residual risks in the respective operating instructions!
When installing or replacing parts, please note the following
Use only pipes and system components that are
- clean and dry inside (free from scale, metal chips, rust and phosphate coatings) and
- delivered with an air-tight seal.
Depending on the model, the compressors are delivered with blanking plate on the pipe connections or shut-off valves. These must be removed before testing for pressure resistance and tightness and before commissioning.
The blanking plates are only designed to serve as a transport protection. They are not suitable as a separation between different system sections during the strength pressure test.
Damaged valves can cause serious injuries and system breakdowns.
Install the valve without any additional loads (forces, vibrations, etc.). The valve must not be used as a fixing point for pipes.
Depending on the operation mode, the shut-off valves may become very cold or very hot.
Risk of burning or frostbite!
Wear suitable protective equipment!
Damage and cracks at the connection possible
Cool the valve body and bushing during and after soldering or welding. However, if they cool down too quickly, the connection may be damaged or cracked, so allow joints to cool down slowly in air.
Maximum soldering temperature 700°C!
Dismantle pipe connections and bushings for welding.
Depending on the expected pressure, ensure that the wall thickness of the pipes is suitable and sufficient! Pipes made of unalloyed black steel are ideal for welding, as the connections are also made of black steel. If stainless steel pipes are to be used, the welding rod must be suitable for this combination.
Assess the risk of the procedure and take precautions as necessary, for example: Wear extra personal protective equipment, switch the system off or shut off and depressurise the valves upstream and downstream of the system component in question.
When changing connections or shut-off valves, replace the corresponding seals and screws as well. Use only authentic BITZER spare parts.
Risk of refrigerant loss!
Prior to commissioning the system, check newly mounted pipes for pressure strength and tightness!
Risk of compressor damage!
Generously sized filter dryers should be used to ensure a high degree of dehydration and to maintain the chemical stability of the circuit. Make sure to choose a suitable quality (molecular sieves with specially adapted pore sizes).
When turning or mounting shut-off valves:
Risk of damage to the compressor.
Tighten screws crosswise in at least 2 steps to the prescribed tightening torque.
Test tightness before commissioning!
Observe tightening torques for screwed connections according to maintenance instructions AW-100!
Unpainted areas can corrode.
- Repaint the valve if the paint is damaged or an unpainted valve is fitted.
