Risk of severe frostbite.

Avoid any contact with the refrigerant. Wear cold-protective gloves.

  1. Switch off the refrigeration system.
  2. Shut off all pipes before and behind the pressure equipment.
  3. The refrigerating circuit is under pressure, open it carefully.
  4. Extract the refrigerant or pump it down as a liquid.
  5. Re-use the refrigerant or dispose of it properly!
The heat exchanger tubes may burst if the heat transfer fluid freezes.

Ensure a sufficient refrigerant temperature at any time.

  1. Keep the refrigerant temperature in the pressure equipment at least 4 K above the freezing point of the heat transfer fluid. To do so, monitor the outside temperature of pressure equipment if required.
